Do you have to empty cabinets for countertop installation?
Do You Need to Clear Out Your Cabinets to Make Room for Counters?
Is it necessary to empty cabinets before installing a countertop? The cabinets at the sink base should be completely empty, with the top set of drawers removed. This will make it easier for our installers to remove and reinstall them.
How to Prepare for Counters
If you’re going to have new counters installed in your kitchen, you’ll need to clear out your cabinets first. Here’s how to get ready for the installation:
1. Remove all shelves and drawers from your cabinets.
2. Clean your cabinets thoroughly, both inside and out.
3. Measure the dimensions of your cabinets and make a note of where the plumbing and electrical outlets are located.
4. Once you have the measurements, choose the type of countertop material you want and order it based on those dimensions.
5. If desired, replace cabinet hardware. If you want something different, now is a good time to update your cabinet style.
6. Replace any shelves or drawers. Check that everything is level and secure before restocking your cabinets.
If you have the space and need more countertop space, it might be worth considering this option. However, if you don’t have the space or don’t require the extra counter space, leaving your cabinets alone is probably the best option. It is ultimately up to you to determine what works best for your needs and your kitchen.
